Isolation and Characterization of Bacillus velezensis from Lake Bogoria as a Potential Biocontrol of Fusarium solani in Phaseolus vulgaris L.

The common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is a significant vegetable crop, grown because it rich source of protein, carbohydrates, and vitamin B complex. Fusarium solani Rhizoctonia are the most widely known pathogens contributing to large yield losses for this crop. use cultural chemical control practices has been ineffective. Therefore, sustainable, affordable, effective method urgently required. In study, we aimed isolate characterize Bacillus velezensis from Lake Bogoria as potential biocontrol agent solani. Bacteria were isolated soil sediments using serial dilution technique. Molecular characterization was performed 16S rRNA gene. A total 13 bacteria sediments. Based on partial sequences, BLAST analysis showed two isolates, B20 (Bacillus strain QH03-23) B30 JS39D), belonging velezensis. Other isolates identified tequilensis, Brevibacillus brevis, subtilis, amyloliquefaciens, licheniformis. effectiveness their antifungal properties determined via co-culturing, found mycelial inhibition rates 28.17% (for B20) 33.33% B30) isolates. revealed that they Gram-positive grew well at pH 7.0 8.5, although growth recorded 5.0 10.0. terms temperature, optimal temperature conditions 30?35 °C, with an optimum salinity 0–0.5 M NaCl. When these tested ability produce secondary metabolites, phosphate, pectinase, chitinase, protease, indole -3- acetic acid (IAA), hydrogen cyanide (HCD), making them agents.
